Chapter 0: Prologue
It’s a dark, cold winter night. The light pollution from the nearby theme park is unbearable for residents. And despite the many complaints, the government refuses to do anything.
Because the park is abandoned. And yet every night from sunset to sunrise, the park glistens with excitement: every mother having to tell her child: “No sweetie, you can’t go. That park closed down ages ago.” The child, of course, has a valid reason for wanting to go. Why would the park’s lights be on if the park wasn’t closed? Perhaps an automation left on after its abandonment?
And if you listen close enough, every night, when those putrid lights turn on and blind everyone for miles and miles, you might even be able to hear screams from the spirits that wander the dustyard.
Enter Clara Vayne. A 14 year old girl who’s lived in the town of Thistledown Hollow for her entire life. Who’s lived every day, and every night, seeing that wretched theme park light up the night sky, and not being able to even visit it once.
And, oh look. It seems like she’s waking up.
